College bound students with disabilities are covered by a different law than they are in high school. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is the law that protects students while they are in high school. It ensures that students are provided with the accommodations listed in the IEP. Once students graduate, it is up to them to advocate for themselves. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is the law that covers individuals with disabilities after high school.
